No exposure to sunlight can actually put you at more danger when the summer months come again and you spend more time outdoors. Indoor tanning was actually developed in Europe to help light deprived people get the benefits of regular sun exposure. Sunlight helps your body produce Vitamin D. Approximately 40 percent of people over the age of 50 are vitamin D defficient- If you arent exposed to about 20 minutes of sunlight a day, then an indoor tanning bed may be a good option.

How to Keep Your Bed Health and HappyWe are drawing to a close on one of our busiest seasons ever at Sunco. We put a lot of new beds out there in some homes and would like to remind you all to take care of your new beds. Taking care of a bed will increase the life of your bed. It will also make sure your equipment is performing at its peak- resulting in quick tan time. Cleaning After Use It's a good idea to clean and disinfect your tanning bed's bench and canopy after each use. If you own one of our stand up boooths dont forget the floor. Be sure to use a non-abrasive disinfectant cleaner that does not contain ammonia or ammonia derivatives. Most household cleaners contain these ingredients so be sure to read the label before you spray. Spray the acrylic lightly with disinfectant and wipe dry with a clean soft cloth. Sunco recommends Australian Gold's pH Neutral Disinfectant CleanerIn a pinch its better to use warm water than cleaning agents you arent sure of- but you're going to need a cleaner to get the oils left behind on the acrylic. If you own a used tanning bed with acrylics that have become cloudy or lot of scratches, you might consider Novus Acrylic Polish before replacing the acrylics. Novus Acrylic Polish comes in 3 grades: #1 gently cleans and shines, #2 removes fine scratches and haziness, and #3 removes heavy scratches. Please note that this polish is not for everyday use. Frequent polishing can actually shorten the life of the acrylics. Thorough Periodic Cleaning The cooling fans will draw in dust over time. This dust can cover both bulbs and reflectors. It's a good idea to clean your bulbs and reflectors every few months. Clean bulbs can increase UV output by as much as 10%. Here are a few simple steps to make sure your bulbs are functioning at their peak: 1. Remove the acrylic shields and lamps. 2. With a soft cloth, wipe the entire length of each lamp. 3. Clean both sides of the acrylic shields with a non-ammonia disinfectant cleaner. 4. Wipe the reflectors with a clean damp cloth. 5. Re-install the lamps and acrylic shields. Mechanical Inspection Inspect the unit's mechanical integrity every 6 months to a year. 1. Inspect the fasteners and verify they are all firmly in place. Pay particular attention to hinge bolts. 2. Inspect the gas springs for signs of wear. Replace gas springs that don't hold the canopy in the full open position when raised. 3. Inspect the AC power cord and its connections. Look for frayed coating on the wire. 4. Inspect the acrylic. Replace if broken, cracked or badly scratched. Replacing Lamps To achieve maximum tanning effectiveness you should change lamps after approximately 800 - 1000 hours of use. It will take longer for you to tan and you may feel you arent getting the same results. We reccomend you change the bulb starters when you replace the bulbs on your beds. These steps should keep your tanning bed in good working order for years to come. Feel free to call Sunco for any specific questions you may have. Need lotion? Browse our Lotion Pages.
